Dear user of NASA Astrophysics cloud compute,
We are convening a User Panel composed of researchers from the community to give us feedback on the Fornax. We would like to invite you to nominate yourself or others** to participate in this effort to ensure that the Astrophysics cloud compute research infrastructure meets the needs of all members of the community.
** Ask 3rd parties to email us if they are willing.
The time commitment is not onerous, but we do need folks who are available on a weekday in September to attend a virtual meeting. The format of this user panel will probably be familiar to you, but the project is new and unique. The Fornax Initiative will:
- give an overview of our goals and design
- show our current status
- present our plans for the near and farther future
This will include plenty of time to ask questions and discuss whatever needs clarification. We will then ask you to write up your thoughts in a User Panel Report that will be used by the Fornax Initiative leadership and NASA HQ to revise as needed our budgeting, planning, and prioritizing. You input is particularly invited on not only how we are doing now and what we plan but what we might be missing that you see a need for.
Nominations should be sent to fornax-helpdesk@lists.nasa.gov, by August 21. We sincerely thank anyone who is willing to help us ensure that the work we are doing will be valuable to the community and become what we hope for: an unprecedented, powerful, and open platform for astrophysics research.
Thank you,
Tess Jaffe
Fornax Project Scientist on behalf of the Fornax leadership
