Discourse account doesn't have my name associated with it

I’ve noticed that my discourse account doesn’t have my actual name associated with it anywhere - actually this is true of quite a few accounts (@azoghbi for instance).

If you click on my profile picture you’ll see it just says my username, whereas if you click on @raen 's picture it does show his name).

Going into the admin settings of Discourse there is a field to add a name to the account, but both Abdu and I tried that and the names don’t persist - I would guess the cause is missing information in whatever is being pulled from the authorization database?

It is nice to be able to use someone’s name when answering their questions on here, and I suspect it would for everyone to have their name associated with their discourse account for the collaborative storage feature, so someone adding another user to their collaborative space can search for them by name here.

Hi @djturner , thanks for reporting this! Looking into this now.

The reason for this I think is because we automated discourse account creations back in late May. So for people who made an account after May they automatically got their name populated. Whereas the people who registered prior to that may have forgot to add it. I’m looking into what we can do about it…

Thanks Jim!
